Credit Counselling Society Recognized as One of Canada\u2019s Best Places to Work<\/h1>\n\"Credit\n\nThe Credit Counselling Society<\/a> is pleased to announce that it has been recognized by the Great Place to Work\u00ae Institute Canada as one of the \u201cBest Workplaces in Canada\u201d for 2012. The list was published this morning in the Globe and Mail.\n

Credit Counselling Society Wins Two Awards<\/h2>\nFor Canadian companies with under 1,000 employees, the Credit Counselling Society ranked 26th on the list<\/a>. The Credit Counselling Society was also honoured with another award for \u201cFairness.\u201d The six recipients of the Fairness Award were chosen regardless of company size. According to the Great Place to Work Institute of Canada, \u201cresearch shows that there are five common themes found in the Best Workplaces: Credibility, Respect, Fairness, Pride and Camaraderie.\u201d This year the institute recognized six organizations from across Canada that \u201cdemonstrated excellence in each of these categories.\u201d The award for Fairness means that \u201cno matter what, people here are treated fairly.\u201d The award consists of three elements:\n
    \n\t
  1. Equity \u2013 balanced treatment for all in terms of rewards<\/li>\n\t
  2. Impartiality \u2013 absence of favouritism in hiring and promotions<\/li>\n\t
  3. Justice \u2013 lack of discrimination and process for appeals<\/li>\n<\/ol>\nWhile the Credit Counselling Society<\/a> is delighted to win the Fairness Award this mindset has been ingrained in the society since its inception. Everyday Counsellors and staff at the Credit Counselling Society meet or speak with hundreds of people across Canada who need help with their debt, help managing their finances better, or both. The society\u2019s approach has always been to treat its clients with the utmost respect in a confidential and non-judgmental fashion. It\u2019s great to see that this non-discriminatory approach has permeated the whole organization and was noticed by The Great Places to Work Institute.\n

    The Significance of Being Recognized as One of Canada\u2019s Best Workplaces<\/h2>\nThis is the first time that the Credit Counselling Society has applied for the award. \u201cAfter a thorough application process in which every employee participated, we are extremely pleased with the outcome,\u201d states Scott Hannah, President & CEO of the Credit Counselling Society<\/a>. In all, 93% of the employees at the Credit Counselling Society stated that it is a great place to work.\n\n\u201cPersonally I am extremely proud of this award,\u201d remarks Scott Hannah. \u201cConsumers often come to us during the most challenging financial chapter of their lives. Helping people work through these challenges requires a strong, dedicated team that works very well together. It is based on surveys and research conducted by Great Place to Work Institute. Annually the Great Place to Work Institute surveys over 10 million employees around the world and publishes its findings to promote excellence in the workplace.
